People with disabilities in the third world are often told that they have no value, that they cannot go to school or work. At The Refuge of Hope they learn that they have many gifts, talents and abilities and that they can help make the Refuge a success.

Andres lost his leg after falling in an armadillo trap in the jungle. He was a 3-day boat ride from the hospital and gangrene had taken over by the time he got there. They had to amputate. He is spirited and a hard worker. He wants to be an agronomist.

For $5 you can purchase a hen that will be raised at the Refuge of Hope. It will lay an egg a day which will provide food for the children and profits from eggs sold in the market.
